Interior designer Yossi Shaul does not shy away from challenges.
Throughout his childhood and adolescence he was an outstanding athlete in the challenging field.
After he turned to the field of retail and was engaged in it for many years, he decided to recalculate his path and turned to planning and interior design.
Today he is responsible for private and commercial projects that are characterized by his urban signature.
"People build a house or do a comprehensive renovation once or twice in their life, and due to lack of experience they make mistakes that make them pay a high price and regret it," he says.
"It is important for me to give tips to avoid unnecessary mistakes and for the tenants to enjoy the new or renovated house."

1. Beautiful but also practical and comfortable.
Sometimes we are in love with a beautiful design until we forget that apart from the beauty it is important to be comfortable at home.
Only late do we discover, for example, that the work surface in the kitchen is not big enough, or that the dining table is so heavy that it cannot be moved when guests arrive.
It is always important to combine practicality with design to make it pleasant and comfortable to live in.

2. Correct selection of the key personnel The
two most important professionals are the interior designer or architect, and the contractor who accompanies you in the renovation of the house.
Be sure to get quotes from three professionals and make sure that the quotes are detailed and provide an appropriate response to your requirements.
Regarding contractors, go see houses they have built and renovated, and ask their customers about reliability, quality, schedule, etc. Regarding interior designers - talk to the customers who recommend them and don't be shy to ask questions. Check if their design style really suits you and if you feel Connection to them. Be sure to get price offers that are equivalent in scope and compatible with your needs. For example: Do you really need close work supervision? The more essential information you have, the easier it will be for you to choose the best interior designer for you.

3. Demand but also compromise
Prepare a list of what is really important and critical for you alongside a list of what you would like, but is not mandatory.
Don't give up on what's critical, but definitely give up on what isn't.
You don't really need the snooker table in the living room, and you don't really need a shoe room, even though it looks lovely.

4. Think ahead
when entering into a renovation it is important to look five and ten years ahead.
Let's take for example parents of small children who are currently sleeping in the same room, and in a few years one of the children will move to the room that is currently used as a storage room.
It is important to plan the extra room so that in a few years it will suit the child in terms of size, window and electrical infrastructure.
And at the same time plan the space of the house in the present and in the future to be functional and not harmful.

5. Storage
Many people build a beautiful house and get stuck at the end with no place to store the things.
It is important to plan enough space for all the objects, including those that will be added in the future, and to build the storage places in a smart way that will not detract from the space - for example, a storage unit under a staircase, or smart niches that combine design and storage perfectly.

6. Calculate how much time a
family that almost never hosts people for meals, and whose living room is not very large, does not need a large dining area.
Many people sometimes choose to plan the house according to what they know.
Look at your living habits, and plan the house according to the way you live and behave.
7. Planning a budget
Before planning, think about a budget and update the designer accordingly.
After the designer has prepared plans and exact specifications for you according to your wishes and your budget, receive price offers and check if the specifications fit the budget.
If not - know how to give up things that are not mandatory for you.
In addition, the designer will be able to offer you alternatives that will save you money: use of cheaper and more practical raw materials (for example, synthetic parquet rather than real wooden parquet in the children's rooms), changing interior door specifications, etc.
After you have closed a final budget, add 15% for unexpected expenses so that you do not finish the renovation with your tongue out.
