Kochel – Police officers made an unusual find at the Samerberg service area on the A8: there was an abandoned sailing boat – stolen years ago on Lake Kochel.
On Tuesday afternoon (August 2nd), veiled investigators from the Bavarian border police came across a parked boat trailer with the loaded sailing boat "Sonja" in the parking lot of the Samerberg North service area on the A8 between Salzburg and Munich.
The investigators were able to determine that the boat and trailer had been stolen in May 2017 in Kochel, near the shore of Lake Kochel.
It has since been reported stolen, according to the police headquarters in Oberbayern Süd.
The border police officer noticed the boat and trailer around 3:30 p.m.
Someone parked it in the parking lot and then drove on.
The police officers secured the boat and trailer with a total value of almost 10,000 euros.
How and why the sailing boat came to the parking lot of the rest area is the subject of further investigations.
The Raubling Border Police Inspectorate (08035/9068-210) and the Kochel Police Station (08041/76106-273) are now asking for relevant information.
