It's a bit mysterious: on the grounds of a rest area on the A8, veil flags now came across a sailing boat parked there.

It had disappeared at the Kochelsee - five years ago

Rohrdorf/Kochel am See

- Last Tuesday (August 2) officers from the Bavarian border police came across a parked boat trailer with a loaded sailing boat named "Sonja" on the site of a motorway service area on the A8.

The investigators were able to determine that the boat and trailer had been stolen more than five years ago near the shore of Lake Kochel.

Sailing boat was reported stolen in May 2017 in Kochel am See

The abandoned sailing boat was discovered in the parking lot of the Samerberg Nord rest area.

The boat and trailer, which have been reported stolen since May 2017, were noticed by the border police officers at the Raubling Border Police Station around 3:30 p.m.

Someone had obviously parked it in the parking lot and then drove on.

The police officers secured the boat and trailer with a total value of almost 10,000 euros.

How did the boat get to the parking lot on the highway - and where has it been since 2017

How the sailing boat got to the parking lot of the motorway rest area is the subject of further investigations.

Relevant information is available from the Kochel am See police station on 08041/76106-273 or the Raubling Border Police Inspectorate on 08035/9068-210.

By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our regular Bad Tölz newsletter.

Specifically, the police ask in this case: Who knows the boat and can possibly provide information about previous berths on lakes or in other ports?
