A resurgence of cholera has claimed 200 lives since October 2021 in Cameroon, where more than 10,300 cases of this disease have been recorded, the Minister of Health announced on Thursday August 4.

Cholera, an acute diarrheal disease, from which one can die in a few hours in the absence of treatment, reappears periodically in Cameroon, a central African country with a population of more than 25 million.

Since the start of the cholera epidemic at the end of October 2021, 200 people have died out of a total of 10,322 cases, announced in a tweet the Cameroonian Minister of Health, Manaouda Malachie.

Five of Cameroon's ten regions, including the Littoral, which includes Douala, the economic capital, and the Center region, which includes the capital Yaoundé, are affected by the epidemic, according to the Minister of Health.
