Cranger Kirmes 2022: Fireworks are on the brink - that's behind it

The fireworks at the Cranger fair in Herne could possibly be cancelled.
A decision on this will be made at midday on Friday, August 5th.
Herne – The Cranger fair in Herne starts on Thursday, August 4th.
The funfair begins at 4 p.m. in the afternoon.
For Friday, August 5th, fireworks are planned at the largest folk festival in North Rhine-Westphalia - actually.
Because as Jochen Schübel from Stadtmarketing Herne told 24RHEIN, the fireworks may be on the brink.
"The decision as to whether the fireworks can take place will be made together with the fire brigade at 12 noon on Friday," says Schübel.

But why could the fireworks be canceled now?
The reason for this is the persistent drought, Schübel continues.
Because where the earth is particularly dry, there can also be an increased risk of fire.
The fireworks at the Cranger Kirmes should actually take place over two days - on Friday, August 5th at the opening and on Sunday, August 14th at around 10:30 p.m. as the end.
The fireworks are usually a highlight at the Cranger fair.
In 2018 and 2019, however, the fireworks at the Cranger fair had to be canceled, the

reported .
If the fireworks fail, no alternatives, such as other light shows, are planned, says Schübel.

The decision as to whether the colorful spectacle can take place must therefore be awaited.
Depending on the location and the weather, it might or might not.
At least the current weather forecasts give reason for hope.
Rain is also forecast for Friday in Herne.
