Fürstenfeldbruck

– Two weeks ago they were still rolling on the streets of France, on August 17th the cycling stars of the Tour de France will rush across the streets around Fürstenfeldbruck.

The race, part of the European Championships held in Munich from August 11th to 21st, will be one of the biggest sporting events ever held in Fürstenfeldbruck.

A total of well over 10,000 cycling fans are expected.

Further details were presented at a press conference at the start and finish point at the Fürstenfeld monastery.

Also present: EM mascot "Gfreidi" and the cycling lion "Oskar", specially created by Brucks Stadtwerke.

In addition to Munich's Olympiapark Managing Director Marion Schöne, the women's national coach André Korff also traveled from Erfurt and drove the route for the first time.

His impression: “Topographically very demanding with the two climbs right after the start on Engelsberg, the descent in Holzhausen and the Landsberieder Berg.

Technically a feasible task, there are only five corners where the brakes are used.”

Preparations are in full swing in the Brucker town hall.

Mayor Erich Raff promises an “immense image gain for the sports city of Fürstenfeldbruck”.

Expecting a spectator run downtown, the business community has organized a Champions Night downtown after the 5:30pm to 7pm men's race.

There are guided tours of the city for visitors, an action stage is set up on the Viehmarktplatz, and a shuttle bus runs from the monastery.
