Coffee on the Hirdinon Dam, Bambi among the basalt stones and a heritage lesson on Givat Ham √ We built a family hiking route for you in the northern Golan Heights - bring your mood and a 4x4 jeep

The desire to enjoy new and unique sites is obvious, and there is almost no Israeli who does not fantasize about vacationing abroad in the summer. But what does the saying that tends to be attributed to Albert Einstein mean? Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. Well, the rush and chaos in Israel probably They won't change anytime soon, you can bet on a flight abroad that might be canceled at the last minute or settle for an all-inclusive experience in Eilat (and avoid the costs, the crowding, and the legend-doo-doo). And you can also travel a little differently and for a lower price than a plate of pickles at an Eyal Golan concert.

During this period, you can plow the country on a fun and stimulating jeep trip, which will discover new landscapes for children that are reserved only for 4x4 owners.

The SUV is not necessarily the goal, but it is certainly the right means to succeed on challenging routes.

Along with the intimate sitting with the children and the shaking that causes bursts of laughter among the little ones, they gain an educational experience that includes history and knowledge of plants and animals found only in nature.

No need to worry.

This is not a Dakar rally or some other crazy motor sport.

We have chosen an easy to moderate route for you, which starts in the morning and lasts until the afternoon only, combining a slightly challenging ride, observation points, making coffee in an open area and a visit to three water sources that will return the body temperature to a normal state.

The trip was spread over a road of about 30 km in the north of the Golan Heights, between Katzrin and Metula. The route was planned by Liav Levy, a mechanical engineer who enjoys off-roading, for the Jeep Wrangler Israel Club. Although the members of the club love extreme off-road trips, they do not forget to include Arsenal also has family trips, suitable for any driver who owns a 4x4 vehicle.

The meeting point was set at the Gan North gas station, where nine jeeps equipped with lively children aged 5-15 gathered.

This is the place to take air pressure off the wheels.

From there the convoy advanced towards Givat Ham overlooking the Hula valley, the villages of southern Lebanon and also to the bald Hermon peak during this period.

The way up is bumpy.

The rocking jeeps and the dust make the kids scream with excitement.

Around countless black basalt stones, which give the feeling of climbing a volcano.

Givat Ham rises to a height of 196 meters above sea level, and is the highest place from which the IDF looked down on Syrian outposts almost from eye level. From this place, fierce battles began in the Six Day War, which claimed the lives of dozens of armored and Golani fighters. On the top of the hill there is still a concrete bunker Old, built by the UN, and next to it is an observation deck with signs describing the occupation of the Golan Heights.

From the hill, cross the patrol road, paved by the Syrians at the beginning of the War of Independence, to the Hirdinon Dam - a pastoral source that is unknown to most travelers in the area.

After walking down a slightly rocky area, you reach a large and shady tree stand, a perfect corner for a coffee.

The children did not wait for the food, and were amazed by jumping into the cool water.

After the rest comes a medium challenge in the garage section.

It was named after the basalt stones and boulders (blocks of rock) that decorate the path, which sent quite a few small jeep drivers to the garage.

The hard jolts and the slow ride are worth it, and not only because of the deer that cross the road and make the children scream with glee "Here's Bambi!".

At the end, you reach Ein Maimon, a magical area where you walk through a choppy stream to a small pool and a secluded picnic area.

The area is rich in fig trees, raspberry bushes and fragrant sage plants.

All that remains is to connect with the inner variety and allow the children to wade in the pool, which is no more than half a meter deep.

The last point on the route is Ein Tina, a small nature reserve on the western slopes of the Golan Heights.

It is reached through Ein Dibsha, a wonderful driving route amidst streams of water and thick vegetation that envelops the entire vehicle.

One of the jeeps called the place "Ein Sarita", after several branches made a jarring sound when they met the body of the vehicle.

In Ein Tina, after you have cleaned the jeep of the leaves, you should not miss the walk from the pool upstream to the impressive waterfall.

"We have a wonderful country, go for a walk in it," concludes Hagit Toran, one of the managers of the Jeep Wrangler Israel Group.

"The beauty we discover on field trips is priceless."

Do not travel alone.

Tips for the beginner jeep

• For OFF ROAD trips, you should go with at least one additional jeep, in case one of them gets stuck.

• On a rugged road, it is recommended that the air in the tires be at 22-24 PSI, to create a better grip on the ground and soften the vibrations.

• When going down the road at a slow speed, be sure to use LOW power gear so as not to overheat the gear.

• At any stop in the field, do not park the jeep on dry vegetation, because the heat of the engine may cause the vegetation to ignite.

• It is very useful to take walkie-talkies with you, since some places do not have cellular reception.

• It is recommended to download the "OFF ROAD" navigation application in advance.

The app also provides recommendations for interesting routes.
