The former governor of Puerto Rico, Wanda Vázquez, was arrested in the early hours of this Thursday by federal agents for alleged acts of corruption, according to the Puerto Rican media and the EFE news agency.
The former president had been under investigation for months.
The arrest of the also former Secretary of Justice took place at her residence in San Juan, according to the Puerto Rican media outlet El Nuevo Día.
The Federal Prosecutor's Office in Puerto Rico plans to offer a press conference at 11:00 am (local time) to give more details about this case.
