(CNN) --
It's hard to keep a poker face with this "Joker" sequel news.
Lady Gaga announced that she will star in the sequel to "Joker" with Joaquin Phoenix.
Lady Gaga, here on stage at the 64th Grammy Awards on April 3 in Las Vegas, gave a sneak peek of her role in the upcoming "Joker" sequel.
Todd Phillips, who directed and co-wrote the 2019 film, first announced "Joker: Folie à Deux" in June.
Gaga revealed in her music teaser that the new film is scheduled to be released on October 4, 2024.

No details about her role were provided, but Variety reported earlier this summer that Gaga had been in talks to play Harley Quinn in a musical sequel.
Actress Margot Robbie has previously played the role in three DC movies: 2016's "Suicide Squad," 2020's "Birds of Prey" and 2021's "The Suicide Squad." (CNN shares its parent company with Warner Bros, which is behind those films, as well as "Joker" and its sequel).
"Joker" was a box office hit, earning Phoenix his first Oscar for his role as the title character.
