The complicated story is this: on the border between Israel and Lebanon, somewhere near Rosh Hankara, two gas fields were found: the first, Harish, is fully in Israeli economic waters but adjacent to the border; the other, the Sidon-Kana field, is between the two sides of the border line, part of it with certainty on the Lebanese side, part of it with certainty on the Israeli side, and another part that is in dispute.
The maritime border line between Israel and Lebanon was of no interest to anyone until they discovered this gas field, because in practice it is worth billions of dollars.
Natural gas is not just a local matter between Israel and Lebanon.
In today's global geopolitical reality, of an ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine and a huge energy crisis in Europe, the supply of gas from these reservoirs may turn Israel into a global energy power and bring Israel to a high position in the web of strategic forces in the world.

European countries and the US are pressing to quickly reach agreements, in order to get the gas out of the sea as quickly as possible.

The negotiations are being conducted in complete silence, but if what is being leaked from it is true, then apparently Israel has agreed to give the Lebanese their original demand, And another small-big bonus: exchange of territories.
Bear with me for a moment: about a quarter of the disputed gas field, Sidon-Kana, is definitely in Israeli territory.
The State of Israel, according to the same reports, agreed to give Lebanon the entire Kana gas field, including the tiny Israeli part, in exchange for a "territory exchange".

A few weeks ago, Nasrallah was quoted in closed talks, when he said that they were "raising the bar so that Israel surrenders on the gas issue."

Nasrallah understands the game and the map of global interests. "The importance of the equation today is in light of Europe's need for oil and gas," he said.
