Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stressed that China's military exercises on Taiwan are a matter of China's sovereignty.
Russia Today website quoted Peskov as saying in a press conference today: The visit of US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to Taiwan was completely unnecessary and artificially raised tensions in the region.
Peskov added: We all know that the tension in the region was over Taiwan, and in fact it was artificially provoked, and we all understand who made the provocation.
Yesterday, Pelosi made a provocative visit to Taiwan, despite strong Chinese warnings of the terrible consequences of that visit, while the Chinese Ministry of Defense announced military exercises in the vicinity of Taiwan in response to her visit.
