The refurbishment of the town hall in Poing incurs additional costs that were not originally planned.

The total sum increases to 3.5 million euros.

Poing - And groundhog greets every year: A year ago, the Poinger municipal administration announced that additional costs of 300,000 euros would be necessary for the ongoing renovation of the town hall.

Now, in the building and environmental committee meeting of the municipal council on July 26, Mayor Thomas Stark (independent) informed that further additional costs will be incurred: around 440,000 euros gross.

This increases the total costs to almost 3.5 million euros.

The first cost calculation from October 31, 2019 mentioned almost 2.8 million euros.

Poing: Old electrical installations are no longer usable

As was the case a year ago, the additional costs are justified with necessary measures, some of which were not foreseeable.

For example, electrical installations were found "that you can't leave like that," said Stark.

"You only see it when you open the walls." According to the administration, the additional costs for the electrical installation alone amount to a good 96,000 euros.

The architect commissioned by the municipality, Robert Spitzhirn, explained other points that lead to cost increases at the committee meeting.

An example: Steel construction work worth almost 47,600 euros.

This includes, among other things, the railing in the stairwell of the town hall, which no longer meets the requirements of the workplace ordinance and therefore has to be renewed.

Poing: The municipal council should return to the town hall

In addition to individual additional work, the current increase in construction costs and delivery bottlenecks are also driving up prices, according to Mayor Stark and architect Spitzhirn.

The building committee approved the new additional costs, which are shown in the budget for 2023 and in the financial plan for the next few years.

The refurbishment of the town hall also includes the meeting room on the first floor.

Because of the corona pandemic, the municipal council with its committees initially moved to the triple gymnasium for meetings, but now the committees meet in the fire station.

At the committee meeting, Mayor Thomas Stark said there were "tender signals" about being able to return to the boardroom in September.
