The Centre for Food Safety of the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department said today (4th) that two more Häagen-Dazs ice creams may be contaminated with ethylene oxide, a pesticide banned in the European Union, including Belgian chocolate ice cream and cookie crunch ice cream, appealing to the public If you purchase the affected batch of products, you should stop eating them. If the trade holds the affected products, they should immediately stop using or selling them. The importer is starting to recall the affected batches.
Two more ice cream batches from Häagen-Dazs were suspected to be contaminated with ethylene oxide, a pesticide banned in the EU, including Belgian chocolate.

A spokesman for the CFS pointed out that it received a notification from the European Commission's Food and Feed Rapid Alert System that the product in question may be contaminated with ethylene oxide, a pesticide banned by the EU.
Upon learning of the incident, the CFS immediately contacted the local importer for follow-up. Preliminary investigation found that the above-mentioned importer had imported the affected batch of the product concerned.

According to the CFS, since ethylene oxide has been banned by the European Union, the importers mentioned above have taken the affected batches off the shelves and stopped the sale of the affected batches as instructed by the CFS, and started recalling them.
Members of the public who wish to inquire about the recall of the above products may call the importer's hotline at 2280 4996 during office hours.
The spokesman appealed to members of the public to stop consuming the affected batches of products they bought.
The trade should immediately stop using or selling the product in question if it is in possession of the batch.
The CFS will notify the trade of the incident and will continue to follow up on the incident and take appropriate action. The investigation is still ongoing.
