The construction site on the soccer field has been set up since Monday, and now the groundbreaking ceremony for the controversial children's home - in the presence of Economics Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Hubert Aiwanger (FW), who also actively grabbed the shovel.

Alling - "It is a great honor for our community that you have come," said Member of Parliament and Deputy Mayor Hans Friedl (FW) his friend.

He had been to Alling several times before, but never in his capacity as Deputy Prime Minister.

"We urgently need this house," said Alling's mayor, Stefan Joachimsthaler.

The current places are 100 percent occupied.

The children's home is controversial: the opponents wanted to prevent the construction with a citizens' initiative.

The municipal council put a council request against it - and won.

The shell of the building is scheduled to start in September, and the new children's home with six groups is scheduled to go into operation in the 2024 kindergarten year.

"All orders have been awarded," said the mayor.

He hopes the costs won't get out of hand.

"I made an announcement to everyone to save ten percent everywhere."

The children's home was originally supposed to cost 7.5 million euros, but now it's between eight and nine million euros.

There are around 3.3 million euros in funding.

Vice Prime Minister Aiwanger also spoke about the galloping construction costs.

He is glad that construction is still going on at all – given the high costs.

Eight million euros for a kindergarten would have been unimaginable ten years ago, says Aiwanger.

In order for municipalities to be able to continue building, they must remain efficient.

Financial equalization must also contribute to this.

The deputy prime minister likes what is to be built in Alling: "It will be a noble part," he said, as he briefly looked at a visualization on a site fence and then disappeared again.
