Once again, fraudsters have managed to trick a retired couple into valuables with a five-digit value.

These are the tips of the real police.

Vaterstetten - Once again, con artists have succeeded in robbing seniors of their fortune.

As reported by the police headquarters in Upper Bavaria North, this time it happened to a retired couple in Vaterstetten.

On Wednesday night, the couple received a call from bogus police officers claiming a relative had caused the fatal accident.

In order for the family member not to be taken into custody, a high bail amount is required, which is collected directly from the couple.

According to the real police, the perpetrators managed to get the seniors to hand over money and jewelry with a five-digit total value to a collector by “skillful and hour-long conversations”.

Only when the handover was long over did the pensioners recognize the fraud and called the real police.

Police advise: Never give jewelry or money to strangers

After the fact, the police again referred to several prevention tips and made it clear: "Healthy distrust is not impolite." Especially if a caller puts pressure on them as part of the scam, those affected should simply hang up.

She also emphasizes: "The real police never ask for assets from you to conduct investigations."

Accordingly, nobody should give money, jewelery or other valuables to strangers.

If valuables are requested during a call, for whatever reason, this should first be discussed with friends or family members.
