The wait is over: the Lenggrieser Festival Week begins this Friday.

With bumper cars, children's carousel, the popular tug of war and live music every day, no visitor's wishes remain unfulfilled.

Lenggries – The Lenggrieser Festwoche had to take a forced break for two years due to Corona, but now it’s finally time to celebrate again: Mayor Stefan Klaffenbacher will tap the first barrel this Friday, August 5th.

In fact, it is the first time in his almost two-year tenure that he has taken on this task.

"I don't know if he practiced secretly somewhere," says Peter Gascha, host of the event together with his brother Michael.

He didn't practice, says Klaffenbacher, but admits with a laugh that he's "a little nervous".

"But we'll manage."

Everything worked fine during assembly.

"Even if it's amazing how much you forget within two years," says Gascha.

When assembling one or the other element, you have to think a little longer about where everything goes.

Lenggrieser Festwoche: Many attractions and all kinds of delicacies await visitors

The showmen have remained loyal to the gasha.

"We're also glad that everyone survived," says the innkeeper.

On the fairground on the B 13 there is a bumper car, two children's carousels, a swing boat and a shooting range.

There is duck fishing, roasted almonds, chocolate fruit and fresh potato chips.

Ayinger beer will be served in the tent for the first time this year.

“We already had that at the festival week in Greiling.

That went well,” says Gascha.

The mass costs 9.60 euros.

Up to 30 waiters a day will ensure that everything runs smoothly.

The Lenggries fire brigade celebrates its 150th anniversary in the marquee on Sunday

The landlord would really like to thank "all the helpers who support us," says Gascha, also mentioning the clubs.

The fire brigade and mountain rescue service, for example, are present on family day on August 6th.

The first evening will again be organized as a home evening by the Hirschbachtaler Trachtenverein.

On Sunday, August 7th, the Lenggries fire brigade uses the marquee to celebrate its 150th anniversary.

And the rural youth organizes the popular tug of war again on August 14th.

You can register for this in the festival office.

There is live music every day

Otherwise there is live music every day - for example from "Nirwana" (August 6th), "Tropical Rain" (August 10th), "Inferno" (August 13th) or from "Die 3 Z'widern" (August 14th). August).

But also the brass bands Lenggries, Jachenau and Wackersberg as well as some other groups give the honor.

The landlords give the bands a free hand when it comes to selecting the pieces.

The Ballermann hit "Layla", which was criticized for its sexist lyrics and which was banned in some beer tents, can also be played in Lenggries.

"I mean, there are worse things," says Gascha.

"We don't make any restrictions here.

The only important thing for us is that everyone has fun.”

1,400 people are expected to attend the Melissa Naschenweng concert

The concert by Melissa Naschenweng on Monday, August 8 also promises to be fun.

Supporting bands are "Brass da la Vista" and "Lenze & de Buam".

But if you don't have a ticket yet, you're out of luck: the concert has been sold out for weeks.

"People still call every day to see if there are still tickets," says Gascha.

1400 people will celebrate this evening.

Half chicken and mass for seniors

Otherwise, the tent offers space for about 1200 visitors on the beer benches.

There are also 300 to 400 seats in the beer garden.

Gascha hopes for many visitors again on the senior afternoon on August 9th.

"The last time around 600 seniors were there," he recalls.

Every Lenggrieser over 65 can look forward to half a hendl and a beer on this day - donated by the community and the innkeepers.

1000 euros in cash waving at the Schafkopf tournament

It should also be full on the last day: On August 15th, the big Schafkopf tournament of the Münchner Merkur and its local newspapers is coming up again.

The main prize is a cordless chainsaw worth 1,400 euros or 1,000 in cash.

At 9 p.m. the big raffle is still on the program.

Tickets can be purchased throughout the festival week.

The proceeds benefit the traditional costume association Hirschbachtaler.

Now Gascha is only hoping for good weather for the festival in the coming days: dry but not too hot.

The start is this Friday, August 5th.

At 5.30 p.m. there will be a stand concert with free beer at the town hall.

At 6.30 p.m. the parade starts moving.

At 7 p.m. it's "o'zapft is".

Then the folklore evening of the Hirschbachtaler traditional costume association begins with the Lenggries brass band.
