Financial bad news for the Murnau market: the costs for the planned children's home are galloping.

According to the current status, the building will cost 10.15 million euros.

In May it was 2.5 million euros less.

Murnau

– When the Murnau building committee discussed the planned children’s home on Längenfeldweg in May 2022, Matthias Marschner from the Hirner & Riehl office was also there.

At the time, the architect spoke of an “interim status” with regard to the preliminary design.

He emphasized that he was not yet able to say "where we are going to end up in terms of costs - that would be dubious at the time".

High construction and energy prices

It is now clear where the Murnau market ends up: namely at 10.15 million euros.

In May there was still talk of 7.5 million.

The municipal council was logically not happy about this cost explosion on Wednesday evening.

City Hall manager Zenzi Oppenrieder gives the reasons: "In 2019, a cost estimate was made for a seven-group children's home.

The increase in costs can be seen from the extended space requirements (eight groups) and the significantly increased construction and energy prices, according to the construction index of the Federal Statistical Office.” How are the additional costs to be financed?

This question "will be clarified during the budget deliberations for 2023," says Oppenrieder.

"Possible subsidies are also being examined."

Once again, CSU municipal councilor Franz Neuner spoke up on this topic.

He supports the building of the children's home.

He also advocates top equipment.

But Neuner believes that “we could have saved a lot of money right from the start” if the building wings had not had the trapezoidal shape.

In his opinion, one should avoid "every frills".

It is "our job" to handle "the citizen's money" with care.

One of the main goals must be cost savings.

"Unfortunately, it's too late today." Back in May, the Froschhauser pointed out that deviating from the right angle would incur additional costs.

Hosp: Debate too late

Welf Probst from the Free Voters complained that there was only one draft.

"That's the rub." The fact that you are now at ten million euros is "madness".

"We have to see that we can get down on the costs." For Probst it is clear: The new fire station "must be a functional building, without frills".

Michael Hosp (CSU) could not fully understand the discussion.

In his opinion, this should have been held six months or nine months ago.

At that time "there would still have been something to influence".

Hosp thinks the design itself is “good”.

Mayor Rolf Beuting (ÖDP/Bürgerforum) considers it to be "very well done".

What Neuner calls frills has pedagogical reasons.

An inclusive and flexible solution has “its price”.

Veronika Jones-Gilch (Bündnis 90/Die Grünen), consultant for childcare, refers in her statement to the unfortunately "tense situation in the construction industry, coupled with a tense fundamental world situation".

In addition, there is the pressure to cover all legal claims in terms of childcare.

"And the whole thing paired with a quality standard that is now finally finding its way into this topic." But Jones is convinced: "To save on quality in childcare, which also refers to the rooms and equipment, would be fatal Signal and little forward-looking.”

In the end, the market council voted almost unanimously for the proposed plan.

The start of construction on Längenfeldweg is scheduled for autumn 2023.
