Killings in Gaza and rockets in Israel: the world reacts with indifference Israel today

The military operation in the Gaza Strip did not grab world headlines while the war in Ukraine and the economic crisis in the USA • The BBC sided with the Palestinian position

In the world media there were echoes of the IDF operation "Dawn" in the Gaza Strip, but it is clear that the issue did not grab headlines and most of the coverage went through social networks.

"An Israeli attack killed nine in Gaza, the Islamic Jihad promises revenge," the Reuters news agency wrote in a secondary report.

Also in the AP news agency.

They referred to the operation and stated that a "senior commander in the Islamic Jihad" was killed.

The Wall Street Journal at the time of writing these lines were busy with domestic issues in the US surrounding the economic situation in the country and the rate of employment under the administration of President Joe Biden. The Klal Ha attack was mentioned.

A similar situation was recorded in the "Washington Post" where they emphasized the visit made by the Speaker of the American House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi to Taipei against the background of the general escalation between China and Taiwan. As expected, on Twitter the coverage was continuous and if the start of the alarms over the settlements of the south and the center the words "Israel", "Tel Aviv" and "Gaza Strip" became trending in his area.

Also, the documentation of the interceptions through the "Iron Dome" received hundreds of shares in the last hour, a situation similar to what happened last year during the "Guardian of the Walls" operation.

It seems that the ongoing war in Eastern Europe still retains most of the world's attention in coverage abroad along with its implications for the cost of living.

"Israel attacks"

The BBC, as they usually do, took the Palestinian side when it comes to the narrative of the reasons for the escalation, with a picture of Palestinians crying on the channel's website.

The headline was "Senior activist killed after Israel attacked Gaza", while the internal headline was more balanced: "Senior activist killed when Israel attacked following threats".

In the "New York Times" they wrote in the headline "Israel attacks in Gaza amid growing tensions".

On the home page of the "Times" they did not put the article in the upper half of the site, but only far down, in the "More News" section, apparently due to the great preoccupation of the American media with the economic news that came out today in the United States as part of the employment data report and the fear from continued high inflation.

The Iranian websites also expanded on the description of the events in Gaza, and as expected placed the blame at Israel's door.

The website PressTV was the website that carried the most prominent article in the first hours of the fighting with the headline "Israel attacked a center of the Islamic Jihad in Rafah, a commander was killed", next to a large photo of a funeral.
