The University of Hong Kong will set up 12 world-class strategic key research institutes focusing on interdisciplinary research, engaging in interdisciplinary research such as artificial intelligence, big data, smart materials, quantum science, climate change, carbon neutrality and biomedical engineering, as key research bases of the University of Hong Kong , and a hub for innovative thinking, learning, teaching, research and entrepreneurship.


Li Jiachao, Chancellor of the University of Hong Kong and Chief Executive of the Special Administrative Region, recently attended the 111th Anniversary Celebration of the University of Hong Kong and the Groundbreaking Ceremony of the Tech Landmark Project.

In his speech, he quoted President Xi Jinping's July 1 speech about his concern for young people, and promised that the SAR government would continue to fully support the development of the university.

The future development plan combines scientific research innovation and humanistic spirit

As HKU enters its second century, the Tech Landmark project is not only an important milestone in the development of HKU, but also a prelude to a series of future projects combining humanities with world-class innovation and technology.

The project will build a complex of three buildings on the main campus and is expected to be completed in 2024.

Tech Landmark is just the starting point of a new vision.

The frontier expansion projects in the next few years include the new building complex on Sassoon Road, the Global Innovation Centre with world-class research and deep technology laboratories, the sustainable development and smart campus space of the Puffy Road campus, and the University of Hong Kong. -Shenzhen Campus, Huangzhukeng Student Village Residential College that places equal emphasis on housing and cultivating students' humanistic quality, and West High Mountain Development Project.
