Mountain accident in Chiemgau: woman falls 30 meters and dies

A hiking accident claimed one fatality on Thursday.
A woman fell and died at the scene of the accident.
Aschau im Chiemgau –
The accident happened on the hiking trail in the direction of Gedererwand (district of Aschau im Chiemgau).
An 81-year-old woman had to climb back down a short distance when she tripped and fell, police said.

The senior fell about 30 meters down a steep slope and stayed on the steep terrain.
At first, the 81-year-old was still responsive.
She received first aid from the mountain rescue service and an emergency doctor.
"Meanwhile, the elderly woman collapsed and died at the scene of the accident, despite the immediate resuscitation measures taken," it said.
The injuries from the fall were too severe.
With the help of the Sachrang-Aschau mountain rescue service, two officers from the Alpine Task Force (AEG) of the Oberbayern Süd police headquarters recovered the body.
He was brought into the valley by the police helicopter.
A police mountain guide is now to investigate how the tragic accident could have happened.
