After 24 years, the Sellmaier bakery is closing its branch on the village square in Reichenkirchen.
The reason: no successor.
Reichenkirchen – The regular customers already know that the start of the company holidays on August 22 is also the end of the Sellmaier bakery branch on the newly designed village square in Reichenkirchen.
After 24 years.
From then on, master baker Hans Sellmaier will only run his main business in Maria Thalheim and the branch in Fraunberg.
"I'm 63 years old now, but I'm still in my bakery seven days a week.
This has sapped my strength over the years.
I finally want to slow down,” Sellmaier explained one of his motives.
The others: "Since my son won't take over the business, we won't be getting any specialist staff to sell our baked goods in the foreseeable future and no trainees are interested in the job of a baker, there's no choice but to close one of the business areas."
Sellmaier: Our manual work no longer pays off
The master baker also explained that he was a businessman who had to pay attention to returns.
"Unfortunately, we are increasingly being replaced by a baking industry, but our manual work is no longer worthwhile."
Although he will continue to supply some food markets in the vicinity, selling via a mobile bakery is out of the question for Sellmaier.
The fact that the branch in Reichenkirchen is closing also hurts Mayor Hans Wiesmaier: “The Sellmaier bakery was not just an invigorating element in the center of the village.
She also offered very good quality and always helped when baked goods of all kinds were needed.
She was an indispensable partner at all community festivals or clubs.” Wiesmaier thanks the landlords of the shop, who have remained loyal to the bakery for a long time – “because the rooms could have been converted into an apartment”.
Reichenkirchen: Looking for a new company
The municipality supports all attempts to find a company in the same place that offers important everyday goods as far as possible.
