The man (50) from the Nuremberg area wanted to hold on to a handle on a ride on the Dachstein-Krippenstein cable car near Obertraun in the Salzkammergut on Wednesday, August 3rd.
This was announced by the police of the federal state of Upper Austria on Thursday.
Instead, the man pulled the emergency brake.
This not only brought the train to a sudden standstill, but also a technical defect.

Austria: A vacationer's mistake triggers a rescue operation
Mountain rescuers and cable car employees abseiled 38 passengers from two gondolas at a height of around 30 meters.
All of the uninjured were rescued from the rough terrain by helicopter and emergency vehicles.
