In Vienna, the rescue of the nuclear agreement is being negotiated.

Now Russia is explaining its terms for the deal with Iran – and criticizing the US.

Vienna/Phnom Penh – The relationship between Russia and Iran has often been difficult in the past.

However, both countries cooperate again and again.

Iran abstained from the UN resolution condemning the war in Ukraine.

According to the US, Iran wants to support Russia in the war.

Now he is working with Russia on the nuclear deal.

Nuclear weapons: Moscow wants to revive deal with Iran in original version

On August 1, Iran signaled its willingness to resume nuclear talks.

"We have received important messages in the past few days," said State Department spokesman Nasser Kanaani.

"There is indeed a possibility for new negotiations soon." Iran definitely wants an end to the nuclear dispute and a comprehensive agreement.

The spokesman did not say when and where the new negotiations will take place.

Chief nuclear negotiator Ali Bagheri also tweeted: "We are ready to bring the negotiations to a conclusion in the short term."

Russia can also imagine a new edition of the nuclear agreement with Iran - but only under the conditions originally agreed, as Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov explained in Cambodia.

"This plan should be renewed only as approved by the UN Security Council, without any additions or restrictions."

According to Lavrov, the US is trying to base a new agreement on a modified plan.

The United States withdrew from the agreement in 2018 under President Donald Trump.

"And of course, because Washington has tried to destroy it, Washington must also revise its position and return to the original agreements."

2015 nuclear deal

The 2015 international nuclear deal with Tehran aims to limit Iran's nuclear program and ensure that the country does not build nuclear weapons.

It was negotiated by the USA, China, Russia, Germany, France, Great Britain and Iran.

Nuclear deal: Russia sees Iran position "absolutely justified"

Negotiations on saving the nuclear agreement have been ongoing in Vienna since Thursday.

The pact was intended to prevent Iran from building nuclear bombs.

Since the US exit and the new economic sanctions, Iran has ignored the agreed restrictions on its nuclear program.

Russia finds Iran's position "absolutely justified".

At the beginning of August, Iran asserted that although the country could already build a nuclear bomb, it did not want to.

"As mentioned several times, Iran is technically capable of building a nuclear bomb, but this is not on the agenda," said nuclear chief Mohammed Eslami.

He accused Iran's nemesis Israel of insinuating these intentions in order to disrupt the nuclear negotiations.
