The nomination committees in the governorates began this morning to receive applications from citizens wishing to run for the elections of members of local councils “provinces-cities-towns-municipalities” as of eight in the morning.
In a statement to SANA's reporter, the head of the Supreme Judicial Committee for Local Council Elections, Judge Jihad Murad, explained that the 35 committees started receiving applications this morning and will continue to do so until the end of the official working day on Thursday, August 11, indicating that the places for nomination committees have been equipped with all tools. Judge Murad pointed out that the Ministry of Interior instructed the secretariats of civil registry branches in the governorates and branches of criminal security to work during official holidays so that those wishing to run could obtain the “civil registration and not convicted” data, as they are among the documents required to apply.
The Assistant Minister of Local Administration and Environment, Moataz Qattan, explained that the headquarters of the nomination committees were equipped in each governorate and provided with cadres and supplies to ensure the continuation of their work without any obstacles, in implementation of the provisions of Decree No. 216 for the year 2022, which set the date of the local council elections on the 18th of next September.
