Shortly after midnight: car catches fire in Oberammergau - hotel guests have to be evacuated for a short time

Damage of more than 60,000 euros occurred in a car fire in Oberammergau on Friday night.

The cause has not yet been determined, the police are investigating.

Oberammergau – Operation shortly after midnight: A car caught fire on Friday night at around 0.25 a.m. on Oberammergau’s König-Ludwig-Straße and was completely destroyed as a result.

Luckily no one was injured.

How it came to the fire is still unclear, the Kripo Garmisch-Partenkirchen is investigating.

Local residents heard a bang and became aware of the vehicle parked in a hotel parking lot.

Other witnesses called 911.

The local fire brigade quickly brought the full fire in the car under control and extinguished it completely.

Nevertheless, an e-charging station in front of the car was destroyed.

The damage to it and the only six-month-old Volvo with a combustion engine is around 65,000 euros.

To make matters worse, the 30 volunteer comrades had to evacuate the majority of the hotel guests from their rooms.

Due to the heavy smoke formation, the CO2 limit in the building was exceeded.

They were only allowed to go back to bed after the air had been ventilated.

The operation lasted around one and a half hours.

Since the cause is still unclear, the police are asking witnesses who can provide relevant information about the case to contact the police on 0 88 21/91 70.
