Grüntegernbach
– As part of the “Our village has a future” initiative, a stork nest is to be attached to the hose tower of the old fire station in Grüntegernbach.
Master carpenter Hans Hagl is responsible for the nature conservation campaign.
Adebar, the lucky charm and herald of spring, is now also at home in Grüntegernbach.
Because where the white stork feels at home, life is well known - not least because it is said that it brings the babies in its big beak.
Only where there are still river meadows and wet meadows does the white stork and with it numerous other animal and plant species have a chance to nest.
There are over 700 breeding pairs across Bavaria.
The stork needs a strong lobby, because it has become pretty tight around its habitat, wet grassland and river meadows.
Environmental considerations were also in the foreground for Hagl when he asked the district office and the city of Dorfen in November 2021 on behalf of the group "Our village has a future" whether the location on the hose tower would be suitable.
"The wooden construction is in perfect order, only the ventilation on the baton has to be readjusted," explains Hagl.
Despite heavy rain during the inspection, no wet spots could be found inside.
The CSU local chairman and carpenter wants to pay for the scaffolding and the work on the roof.
Grüntegernbach was the only village in the district of Erding that registered for the district decision in the competition "Our village has a future" in 2019.
The jury praised the "enormous commitment" of the clubs as outstanding.
In this area, the Grüntegernbachers had almost achieved the full number of points.
The round townscape, which is closed by the new development area, was also rated positively.
The green footpath from the church to the new cemetery with benches is also well accepted by the citizens as an inner-city green space, according to the assessment.
The district heating supply and the fiber optic connection were also seen as positive for the future of Grüntegernbach.
Nevertheless, the small town was not one of the winners of the state village competition for people in rural areas.
However, working groups have emerged from the commitment of the residents in order to continue to implement projects to shape the future of Grüntegernbach.
