Next round in the conflict between China and the USA after Nancy Pelosi's visit to Taiwan: The US government summoned Ambassador Qin Gang because of the major Chinese maneuvers.

John Kirby, spokesman for the National Security Council, criticized the behavior of the People's Republic as "provocative".

China's response to Pelosi's visit could jeopardize regional peace and stability.

“We have also made it clear that whatever Beijing decides to do, the US is prepared.” The US has no interest in a crisis.

At the same time, the US would continue to support Taiwan.

China announced on Friday that it would shut down contacts with the United States on several levels.

Among other things, a planned meeting of top military representatives from both sides was canceled and the bilateral climate talks were suspended.

In addition, China has decided on sanctions against Pelosi and the immediate family of the chairmen of the US House of Representatives.

This will further strain the already tense relations between the two superpowers.

It was made clear to the Chinese ambassador that "Beijing's actions are of concern to Taiwan, us and our partners around the world," Kirby said.

In addition, the United States had again emphasized: "Nothing has changed in our one-China policy."

Part of the so-called One China policy is to recognize Beijing as the sole representative of China.

At the same time, the US rejects using force to change the status quo in Taiwan's relations with the People's Republic.

Kirby made it clear that the US would not be deterred from "operating in the sea and air areas of the western Pacific, in accordance with international law, as we have been doing for decades."

His country will continue to support Taiwan and defend a "free and open Pacific."
