The people of Saydnaya and its visitors celebrated this evening the Transfiguration Day with religious and spiritual rituals and artistic activities in an atmosphere of love and peace.
The celebration began with the sunset prayer of the Feast of the Transfiguration in the Church of the Transfiguration Monastery in Saidnaya and was presided over by His Beatitude the Melkite Greek Catholic Patriarch of Antioch and All the East, Youssef Al-Absi. It was followed by a procession with the icon of the Transfiguration that toured the streets of the town from the Transfiguration Monastery to Al-Ain Square and to Ras Al-Amoud Square and then back to the monastery.
Also, the royal Greek Catholic parish of Agia Sophia performed music during the circumambulation and in Al Ain Square, in the presence of a large number of families and guests.
Dr. Abdullah Saadeh, head of the local council in Sednaya, indicated that the Syrians came from all places to celebrate the Transfiguration Day, which turned into a big festival in which all sects and the people of Sednaya and the neighborhood participate, pointing out that the number of people in Sednaya multiplies five times in the summer, which imposes on the municipal council and those in charge of it to present More and better services, in addition to the council's keenness to secure transportation for those coming from Damascus and prepare the roads to accommodate the increasing attendance and to go around the city's tourist neighborhoods in an organized manner.
Nadia Al-Sheikh, the leader of the ceremony of the parish of Agia Sophia, saw that the celebration of the Feast of the Transfiguration of Christ in Saydnaya, the Syrian land of holiness, is a religious, social and cultural festival that is not limited to the theological dimension only, but has become a national dimension as it has become a point of contact between the people of all Syrian cities as well as the expatriates who come to celebrate it She pointed out that the celebration is a revival of heritage and civilization through the review presented by the Hagia Sophia ceremonies and the various plays that have been prepared for months to be at the highest level calling for mercy for the martyrs of Syria.
For her part, the educator, Mirna Al-Enein, a teacher in Sednaya schools, wished goodness and joy to all Syrians on the Feast of Transfiguration, especially the heroes of the Syrian Arab Army.
