The lectures presented by the participants in the Valley Conference for Syrian doctors at home and abroad varied on its closing day to include specializations of pediatrics, ophthalmology, gynecology, oncology and digestion.
The conference, which was held in the Wadi International Private University in Wadi Al-Nadari region, witnessed for the first time holding continuous medical education sessions with the participation of students from the College of Medicine, which came according to Dr. Ramez Bitar, the conference coordinator, through an active participation of the practicing physician with the students to achieve the greatest benefit.
In a statement to SANA reporter, Bitar noted the participation of the Expatriate Association in Homs in an art exhibition and a story competition that dealt with the Syrian family and the bonds of love and communication.
The head of the Syrian Society of Ophthalmologists, Dr. Ramez Tawaishi, spoke about the society’s participation in this medical conference, which included 11 lectures on ophthalmology, to benefit from the experiences of expatriate doctors in this field and the development of science in addition to the experiences of resident doctors to achieve an important participatory situation.
Drs. Fahd Shribati and Raed Abu Harb, deans of the faculties of human medicine at the universities of Al-Baath and Damascus, considered that the Valley Conference had become an annual scientific event to learn about the experiences of doctors abroad and to see the latest findings of science in various human medical specialties.
The Director of the University Hospital at Al-Baath University, Dr. Firas Zreika, stated that the Diaspora physicians carried in this conference their love for their homeland, which was manifested by transferring to him all the knowledge and information they had, wishing that the conference would witness in the coming years surgical operations with diagnosis and treatment, and the establishment of practical workshops at Al-Baath University Hospital.
The head of the Association of Friends of Expatriates, Eng. Bashar Khuzam, pointed out the purposeful cultural activities of the conference that emphasized Syria's love and victory and called on expatriates to adhere to their motherland.
The expatriate doctor in France, Hanna Bargod, referred to the role of expatriate doctors in supporting their mother country, Syria, with all their knowledge and scientific experience.
For her part, Dr. Samah Tlass described the conference as a distinguished social scientific meeting that connects doctors and their experiences to keep in touch with medical research in all that is new.
