They accuse a fake doctor in California of performing cosmetic operations on Hispanics

The Californian Orange County Prosecutor's Office accused a man of falsely posing as a doctor to attract Spanish-speaking women to whom he performed cosmetic procedures without a license.

Elias Renteria Segoviano, 61, was charged with multiple felony counts for performing Botox injections, lip and face fillers, and string lift procedures, according to a news release from District Attorney Todd Spitzer.

According to the Prosecutor's Office, Segoviano has sold his services in various commercial locations since 2019, including Botox in Anaheim-Health and Beauty;

Botulinum Neurotoxin-Massage Service;

Threads in Anaheim;

Threads La Habra;

Botox La Habra;

and OC Threads, Botox & Fillers.

He was arrested in Anaheim on July 19, according to the District Attorney's Office.

Segoviano is accused of using social networks, including Facebook and TikTok, to advertise his services, using numerous aliases, including “Dr.

Elijah” and “Dr.

Elias Renteria MD”.

Segoviano allegedly performed the procedures with "potentially counterfeit botox, fillers, anesthetics, and other medical drugs that put the public at extreme risk."

The Prosecutor's Office encouraged possible victims to file a complaint.

“Medical professionals are highly trained and regulated for a reason,” Spitzer said, “these women trusted that they had the necessary training and experience to perform medical procedures, and unknowingly put their own lives in the hands of someone who I had no idea what I was doing."

Segoviano was charged with felony unauthorized practice of medicine, felony misrepresentation of a medical license, and felony perjury;

and one misdemeanor charge for false indication of medical license and false indication of qualifications.

Segoviano pleaded not guilty to the charges Tuesday and is being held on $1 million bail.

He faces a maximum sentence of five years and four months in state prison.
