On their tour to Italy, Ina Großmann-Stangl and Bianca Bauer collect donations for the neighborhood aid “Citizens for Citizens”.

Wolfratshausen

– From Innsbruck we go to Jesolo, that's 350 kilometers and more than 8000 meters in altitude: Ina Großmann-Stangl and Bianca Bauer from Wolfratshausen have planned this hike.

But not according to the motto "I'll be gone then", but for a good cause.

During the 14 stages with a daily distance of between 17 and 33 kilometers, they want to collect donations for the Wolfratshausen neighborhood help "Citizens for Citizens".

The two women got to know each other better 19 years ago through the association, and later they even worked for the same employer for a while.

The wanderlust was awakened when Ina Großmann-Stangl saw hikers with headlamps in Wolfratshausen one night.

"These were participants in the Munich-Mittenwald mega-march," says the trained industrial clerk.

"Cool, I thought to myself.

I want to do that too sometime.

Only a few fellow combatants are missing.”

At work, she told her co-workers about it.

Bianca Bauer and another employee were there immediately.

"We planned our first tour a bit naïvely," Bauer recalls.

"We walked from Wolfratshausen to Penzberg - and when we were sitting in the pizzeria in Maxkron, we couldn't imagine ever getting up again."

Hooked on long-distance hiking

In spite of all the hardships: the long-distance walk had grabbed the women.

Again and again the hiking shoes were laced and off we went.

"Over time, I think we've circumnavigated every lake in the area," says Großmann-Stangl.

On one of these tours, the idea of tackling a multi-day hike was born.

"Somehow we came up with the idea of going from Innsbruck to Jesolo via the Brenner Pass," says Bauer.

The idea took more and more form - even if the third "follower" had to give up due to time constraints.

And why, they asked themselves, should this venture not be put to good use right away?

The women quickly agreed to collect for “citizens for citizens”.

Großmann-Stangl and Bauer created a website especially for the tour.

The individual stages are then presented.

"The report on how it really happened, where there were difficulties, what was nice and what we experienced will be submitted later along with photos," Bauer announced in an interview with our newspaper.

At the same time, one department of the association is presented every day, from the repair café to the seniors' meeting point and the babysitter agency to the asylum helper group.

"In this way we want to make 'citizens for citizens' better known in all its facets."

Looking for accommodation

In addition to donations for the good cause, Bauer and Großmann-Stangl also ask for support for themselves in advance. After all, the two of them also have to spend the night somewhere on their hike.

But: “Whatever money is left over here, of course, goes to the club afterwards.”

The hike starts on Wednesday, August 17th in Innsbruck and is scheduled to end in Jesolo on Tuesday, August 30th.
