Well, if that's not a moment of goosebumps: children's pictures, which were painted in Peiting by refugees and Peitingen children as part of a peace project of the "Herzens-Brücken" association, are now advertising peace on huge billboards on the arterial roads outside Kyiv.

Peiting – We remember: In May, under the motto “Creativity builds bridges”, children painted pictures for peace together with the Peiting artist Peter Mayr.

The “Herzens-Brücken” association, chaired by Susann Tabatabai-Schweizer, organized the painting workshop for children from Ukraine, Syria, Myanmar and Peiting.

But how did the pictures with the slogan "We carry peace within us" end up on the arterial roads of Kyiv?

This is where the “Pictures for Peace” association comes into play, which fights for peace with pictures of children from all over the world.

The action on the arterial road in Kyiv is just one of many that Monika Alamdar-Niemann has promoted with her club.

When asked by SN, the professor of social work explains what the project is about: “We want to bring children's imaginations to life in order to give hope to other people in the world.

There is something like a power of peace.” It should give the people in Ukraine strength and show that the whole world is connected to them in the idea of peace.

Alamdar-Niemann is hooked on the Peitinger project.

Tabatabai-Schweizer sends her childhood friend pictures that were taken at the two-day peace workshop in Peter Mayr's studio under difficult conditions.

Communication was here with hand and foot.

Google translator struggled with the Ukrainian language.

There was a lot of laughter.

art connects.

It doesn't take many words between the children from different countries to express what makes them happy: peace.

"The children put a lot of thought into their pictures," says Tabatabai-Schweizer.

A painted gift under the big sun, which is now smiling on the multi-lane road near Kyiv, for example, is not just a gift.

Peace, so the young artist told the trained art therapist, would be the greatest gift.

Children from all over the world had applied with their peace works

The pictures with a message were convincing: children from all over the world applied with their peace works for an exhibition on a total of 15 billboards near Kyiv.

Four pictures from Peiting make it onto the walls with a great message of peace, financed by the “Pictures for Peace” association.

Children's pictures selected by the association can also be seen at other locations: including on the screens in the underground stations in Ukraine, where they are intended to shake up peace.

"Isn't that a small miracle?" Asks Peter Mayr, who still can't believe the impact the Peitingen campaign "Young Artists United" has had.

He spent a few hours with the children in the studio.

"Not only did our work end up there, but somehow we are all involved in an important process that, while unable to end the war, shows an attitude and solidarity with all the innocents on all sides."

When he spoke to children and parents from the Ukraine during the event and at the vernissage, it would have touched him very much.

“Suddenly I was very close.

I felt how devastating this war is, I felt that these people had been torn out of their normal lives."

A Ukrainian boy still visits the artist from Peiting in his studio.

"Then he always says to me, 'my friend'." In any case, a bridge of hearts seems to have been built here.

For Susann Tabatabai-Schweizer, the publication of the children's pictures on the billboards near Kyiv has fulfilled a "heart's desire", as she explains.

“I was moved to tears when I found out.

That is precisely the goal of our association: connecting people's hearts.

I still get goosebumps when I think about what we have achieved.”

Helping with money: That's one thing.

In fact, it would also be about bringing a positive feeling into people's hearts.

For Swiss Tabatabai, the billboards in front of Kyiv are “a sign of hope in this terrible war, a message”.

The message for the Peiting native is: "It's worth it to still believe in the good in this world.

The hope is there.”
