The inner life of the old bathing park is currently being torn out and disposed of.

Only then does the actual demolition of the building begin.

The demolition work on the old bathing park in Bad Wiessee has begun.

What the future of the area will look like and what the status of a new swimming pool will be is meanwhile completely open.

Bad Wiessee

– The bathing park in Bad Wiessee has long been closed.

Now the building itself will soon be a thing of the past: demolition work has begun on the 6,000 square meter site in the spa district.

It is currently completely unclear whether and when a new swimming pool will ever be built there.

Badepark Bad Wiessee: More than 2 million euros for the demolition

It could still be a while before the wrecking ball actually hits and the bathing park is leveled to the ground.

"The gutting is currently underway," said Mayor Robert Kühn (SPD).

The inner workings of the old bathing park first had to be neatly separated and disposed of.

Only then did the above-ground and underground dismantling and the filling in of the site follow, explains the head of the town hall.

The work should be completed by December.

It is not yet certain how expensive it will ultimately be to remove the dilapidated bath from the townscape.

In the budget year 2022, 2.2 million euros have been set aside for the demolition.

Municipality wants to avoid fallow land and strives for interim use

Does the demolition of the bathing park threaten Bad Wiessee with another fallow indefinitely?

According to Kühn, this is exactly what the community wants to prevent.

After the SME company had already left barren land opposite on the property of the former iodine bath, the municipality wanted to refurbish the bathing park property and put it to temporary use.

"There should be a bit of quality of stay there," says the mayor.

Exactly what that will look like has not yet been clarified.

Here the ideas of the citizens are asked for.

New swimming pool: First talks are planned

One thing is certain: its use can only be an interim solution.

The municipality wants to keep the area free so that the planned new swimming pool can possibly be built there.

Bad Wiessee made it clear and underpinned this by an official municipal council resolution at the beginning of July, Bad Wiessee could no longer build it alone due to the exploding construction and energy costs, but only as a joint project with the other valley communities.

Is there already an approximation here?

Kühn reports that the next step is for him to sit down with his Tegernsee colleague Johannes Hagn (CSU) to draw up a concrete roadmap for the project.

Then you want to go quickly to the implementation.

Valley mayors want to ensure communal swimming again

In view of the currently difficult framework conditions, the realization of a new pool is unlikely in the near future.

After all, all valley mayors have already declared that they want to continue to enable municipal swimming in the Tegernsee valley in the future.
