Damascus Telecom branch is working on adding new lines and expanding the telephone network in all centers in the governorate to deliver services to all subscribers.
The Director of Damascus Communications, Younis Hassan, said in a statement to SANA reporter that the number of telephone subscriptions during the first half of this year amounted to 12,611 telephone lines until the end of last June, bringing the total number of fixed-line subscribers in the governorate to 558963, while the total number of subscribers at the gates of the (EDSL) to 345,827 subscribers of the Tarasul service provider and the rest of the private providers.
Hassan pointed out that the branch is working during the current year to allocate communication centers in the governorate with 21,768 internet gates, of which 13196 were completed during the first half of the year, and work is currently being done to allocate 8572 gates distributed over a number of centers, 2500 of which are for the Al-Nasr Communication Center and 3000 for the Al-Tadamun Communication Center. 2048 for the Qadam call center and 1024 for the Yarmouk call center.
The Syrian Telecom Company, according to Hassan, is also working to secure a (Viber Net) service for home subscribers and economic activities in most of the phone centers in Damascus, explaining that the current (FTTP) service directed at economic activities is available in all centers and the number of its subscribers has reached 850 subscribers, as for the service (FTTH), which targets domestic subscribers, is present in the call centers of Mazzeh, Al-Muhajir, Dummar, Al-Jalaa and Kafr Sousa, and the number of its subscribers has reached 685.
