In the most recent meeting of the market town council, one of the two providers who wants to bring Wartenberg to the fiber optics presented themselves.
The plan is for customers to be able to choose their internet provider freely.
Wartenberg – Two providers now want to bring the Wartenberg market to fiber optics on a self-financing basis, i.e. without the municipality having to share in the costs and without a minimum quota for the connections.
One is Deutsche Telekom, the other is the company “Unsere Grüne Ozean with its headquarters in Ismaning.
The latter was given the opportunity to present the company and the concept at the most recent meeting of the market town council.
According to these statements, the main sponsor is the Allianz insurance company.
This company gets the necessary expertise from the Internet provider Telefónica.
The company “Our green fiber optics” remains the network operator.
Glass fiber Wartenberg: Construction time around four to six months
A project time of four to six months is expected, followed by a construction time of around a year.
Gerhard Kaiser and Andreas Kindsvater presented the project and made it clear that they intend to connect the entire market town, including the districts.
That was a question that particularly interested Mayor Christian Pröbst.
There should be a central node from which every single house connection should be supplied in a star-shaped manner.
The network operator announced that it does not only want to work with one Internet provider.
This is particularly important for those customers who do not want to change in this regard.
In this way, it is possible to provide the fiber optic connection free of charge for customers in the first phase.
Existing fiber optic connections could be purchased and then used.
Glass fiber: laid about 40 centimeters below the pavement
Excavation work in the front yard of the connectee would be eliminated because a so-called earth rocket is used.
The fiber optic cables would be laid about 40 centimeters deep, preferably under sidewalks and cycle paths.
There will be a central event to which the company will be inviting, according to further announcements.
Central to the two company spokesmen is the promise that it is an open network.
This means that the subscriber is always free to choose the Internet service provider.
According to these statements, the complete renunciation of public funds also allows the comparatively rapid implementation of the project.
Wartenberg: Construction work could start as early as September
In a side note, Mayor Christian Pröbst made it clear how quickly: When construction begins on Strogenstrasse in September, the empty conduit for the fiber optics can be laid at the same time, so that there is no longer any need to dig up.
These talks are already underway.
The market town council made the unanimous decision to accept the offers of the two companies with approval.
