The foreign news agencies and networks have been describing the Gaza Strip since the beginning of Operation "Dawn" as a ghost town.
Before the start of the attack, the residents of Gaza tell of the beginning of a renewed sense of normalcy, which stopped with the shelling.
Now the beaches are deserted, the shops are closed and the residents lock themselves in their houses.
A resident of Gaza, Samah Abushaiba, published a testimony in English in which she says: "A new attack before we had time to recover from the previous one. After I had already begun to get used to quiet nights. Here it begins again: to open the glass windows so they don't break when a bomb falls nearby, not to sleep near the far walls from the door, leaving the hijab close in case I have to run away and flee for my life."

Another resident told the AFP news agency: "We lived in peace, and then suddenly the shelling started. Enough, enough, every year there is war."
Another woman said that the escalation brings back the feelings of anxiety from the previous operations: "We feel that we are completely alone," she added, "The Palestinians in Gaza are already used to preparing a bag with means of survival that includes documents, some money and medicine."

The media in Gaza are reporting that so far dozens of people have been killed and injured in IDF attacks. The Palestinian journalist Maha Husseini reported on her Twitter account about an IDF barracks in a multi-story building where the offices of several media outlets are located, in the center of a densely populated neighborhood.
