The Observatory predicts that a low pressure area in the central part of the South China Sea is expected to develop into a tropical cyclone early next week, and it will generally move to the area from western Guangdong to Hainan Island, but its path and intensity are variable.
Affected by its outer rainbands, there will be squally showers and thunderstorms in the northern part of the South China Sea and the coast of Guangdong in the middle of next week, and the wind will be quite strong.
According to the forecast of European and American systems, the tropical cyclone has generally moved towards the area between Zhanjiang and Yangjiang. The US forecasts that the tropical cyclone will pass over the waters south of Hong Kong on the evening of next Tuesday (9th), and the intensity will reach the level of a severe tropical storm.

The Observatory said that an area of low pressure is bringing unstable weather to the central part of the South China Sea, and it is expected that the area of low pressure will develop into a tropical cyclone at the beginning of next week, and will generally move to the area from western Guangdong to Hainan Island, but its path and intensity are variable.

According to the nine-day weather forecast, the Observatory is expected to be cloudy with squally showers and thunderstorms from next Tuesday, with heavy rain at times later.

Referring to the forecast of the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF), a tropical cyclone is expected to form in the south of the South China Sea next Monday (8th), and it is expected to move northward. It passed within about 300 kilometers and moved to the area of Zhanjiang City.
ECMWF predicts that the central air pressure of the tropical cyclone at sea level is as low as 995 hPa, which is only a tropical storm.

The US Global Forecast System (GFS) predicts that the tropical cyclone will form in the south of the South China Sea tomorrow (7th), and then rush towards Hong Kong. It will pass over the waters south of Hong Kong next Tuesday night, and next Thursday (11th). Landed in Yangjiang in the early morning.
GFS expects the tropical cyclone to have a minimum central pressure of 989 hPa at sea level, which is expected to reach the level of a severe tropical storm.
In terms of local weather, the Observatory said that an upper-altitude anticyclone is covering southeastern China.
Meanwhile, showers are affecting the coast of Guangdong.
