At “Wetten, dass..?” Thomas Gottschalk repeatedly invited high-calibre artists from the music and show business.

Even after the long TV break, nothing should change.

That's why the cult moderator deliberately avoids German pop stars like Lena Meyer-Landrut and Mark Forster.

"Wetten, dass..?" is not only known for its bagger bets, but also for the celebrities who take a seat on the big, white sofa.

Music greats like Paul McCartney, Michael Jackson and Tina Turner have already sat at Thomas Gottschalk's side.

After a long "Wetten, dass ..?" break, well-known guests are supposed to be back on the show - but not everyone is eligible for that, as the former "Haribo" man explains.

The guests in Thomas Gottschalk's betting show are always a big highlight for the viewers.

However, these are carefully selected, because not everyone is allowed to be part of the show.

Before the next "Wetten, dass..?" issue, Thomas Gottschalk explains to his TV colleague Johannes B. Kerner which stars he will not invite to the show.

According to "Bild am Sonntag", Thomas Gottschalk reveals in the new edition of Johannes B. Kerner's "Best Filled" talk show who could come on his show: "The head of entertainment at ZDF, who takes care of these topics, called the right names .

He said: 'Imagine, at the end Queen sings 'We are the champions' - we're right!

And also when Paul McCartney is pushed in at 80,” says Gottschalk.

According to this, some German pop stars would simply not be suitable for "Wetten, dass..?":

"We are not right with Mark Forster or with Lena Meyer-Landrut, I say.

Nothing against these deserving artists, but it's actually important to me that we show a 'greatness' that doesn't need to be explained to me."

ZDF's successful format also seems to be convincing others in the TV business, which is why Guido Cantz is now bringing his own version of "Wetten, dass...?" to the programme.

"I bet on you" is similar to the ZDF format with its bagger bets.

Instead of a "betting king" there is an "audience favorite of the evening" in the RTL show.
