The ministerial committee in charge of tracking the implementation rates of service projects in Homs governorate was briefed on the reality of work in a number of them.

The meeting, which was held in the governorate building in the presence of directors of service institutions, members of the Executive Office and members of the People's Assembly, focused on the projects implemented during the first half of this year in the governorate, the projects under implementation that were not implemented, the reasons for the low spending, and the discussion of the implementation rates of priority projects in the governorate and investment development projects to increase revenues. Administrative units, review unimplemented investment projects and the difficulties they encounter and work to overcome them.

The committee's tour that followed the meeting included the rural products market in Al-Ikdar neighborhood, Al-Baath University Hospital, and Maryameen Sadat in Homs countryside.

Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Bassam Ibrahim, indicated in a press statement that topics related to the living situation of citizens, electric energy and fuels were discussed, pointing out that the focus was on productive investment projects that secure resources for the state in accordance with Investment Law No. 18 of last year to stimulate investment.

Minister Ibrahim pointed out that the focus was on tracking priority projects, and their completion rates exceeded 70 percent, indicating that the low rates of implementation of some projects were due to the lack of preparation of studies, price differences and the shortage of fuel.

The Minister of Water Resources, Eng. Tammam Raad, explained that all difficulties were discussed and followed up in coordination with the governorate to find solutions, as coordination was made between the Water Corporation and the General Electricity Company to ensure the continuity of water access to citizens, noting that after discussing the reality of sanitation in the governorate, his file was transferred from the local administration to the resources aquatic.

Minister Raad indicated that adding any appropriations to public entities is linked to the public entities' completion of the investment plan, and no appropriations can be added to any entity unless it implements the prescribed plan.

The Governor of Homs, Engineer Namir Makhlouf, stressed the need to increase the amount of fuel, taking into account the geographical extension of the governorate, rehabilitating the Tal Kalakh Mill and improving the energy carriers in a way that reflects positively on the water situation of the governorate, pointing to the need for coordination between the Directorate of Agriculture and the General Company for Reconstruction and Development to complete the implementation of the rural women’s products market within the environmental park.

For his part, the director of the University Hospital at Al-Baath University, Dr. Firas Zreika, explained that the hospital has been providing free services to outpatients since its opening in July last year, and work has gradually taken off within the ambulance departments, clinics, radiology investigations and the laboratory, indicating that with the beginning of this year, work in the Covid 19 patient care department has been launched. Until the end of the disease peak to start receiving patients in the internal departments and cardiac and intensive care, pointing out that preparations are being made to start surgeries during the next week after solving the problem of the shortage of anesthesiologists.

In turn, the Director of Water Resources in Homs, Engineer Ismail Ismail, explained that the storage volume of Maryamin Dam is 235 thousand cubic meters, and its completion rate exceeded 70 percent.

He pointed out that the project irrigates about 300 hectares of agricultural land in the area, and it is expected to be completed during the summer of this year if the capabilities are available.
