“The Role of Literature and the Media in Preserving Cultural Identity” was the topic of the symposium held by the Jerusalem Foundation for Culture and Heritage, with the participation of a number of writers, researchers and critics who discussed cultural ways to confront the upcoming challenges in various forms.

Researcher Dr. Hani Al-Khoury pointed out the necessity of relying on concepts that distinguish modernity and culture from the tools of conquest that target us, reviewing some of the writers and intellectuals who played an important role in the cultural and intellectual renaissance, indicating that what Zionism aims at is to obliterate our identity and promote the Sykes-Picot Agreement.

Al-Khoury stressed that the Palestinian issue should be at the forefront of what we always work on in literature and in all cultures.

For her part, the media person, Arwa Al-Shamali, indicated that it is necessary to work to expose all the greedy invaders who are working to strike our identity and destroy the Arab collective awareness through fake technology and culture, pointing to the need to provide everything that is appropriate to protect our identity and to prove our presence in a distinctive way in electronic systems.

While the poet Muhammad Khaled Al-Khidr, from his poetry collection, “This is what the passers-by did,” recited a poem entitled “A poem of honor,” in which he referred to the necessity of steadfastness in the face of the conspiracies that we are exposed to and confronting them with awareness and culture, pointing to the importance of caring for young innovators in the field of technology to prepare them strongly in the face of cultural invasion.

Director of the Jerusalem Foundation for Culture and Heritage, Muhammad Abu Jbara, who moderated the symposium, pointed out the importance of exposing all the tools of cultural invasion and providing what is appropriate to confront them.
