The shooting towards the settlements in the south and surrounding Gaza resumed this morning (Friday), and red alarms were heard in the area.
The IDF spokesman, Ran Kochav, informed that the army is preparing for an operation that will last about a week and announced that the operations have also expanded to the Judea and Samaria region, where about 20 Islamic Jihad operatives were arrested. They landed in the territory of the Gaza Strip or in the sea. At the same time, the beaches in the surrounding settlements were closed for bathing.
Kochav also informed that the IDF attacked dozens of times in the Gaza Strip and ten Palestinians were killed, eight of whom are active in the terrorist organization.
In addition, about 80 people were injured.
"This operation is not over. We continue to act with initiative and attacks to avoid mistakes," said the IDF spokesman. "We gathered intelligence and waited for an opportunity.
We continue to strengthen defense and intelligence in the settlement and along the seam."
According to Kochav, there are no peace negotiations with the Islamic Jihad, and the army is also preparing for an operation that could last more than a week.
"Patience and resilience are required here and we hope it will continue like this," he said.
"We are with dozens of drones in the air and fighter jets to close circles of fire.
Some of the rockets are activated with a timer - if you attack the launcher, you don't necessarily attack the launcher operator."
