This is how the amusement park is funded

Behind the amusement park in Mammendorf with an outdoor pool, bathing lake and campsite, there is an association as well as the district as the operator.

But why?

The "Förderverein Freizeitpark Mammendorf" was founded to avert the closure of the outdoor pool.

Since then there have been many new tasks.

Mammendorf -

"The amusement park has one attraction richer": That's what former mayor Johann Thurner said at the opening of the new fitness course, for the time being the last major project that the Mammendorf amusement park development association had initiated.

For almost ten years, Thurner has been the chairman of the association that was founded in October 2010.

He had taken over the office from Gottfried Grimm, who had initiated the system when he was district administrator.

The foundation of the association was a reaction to the discussions about closing the outdoor pool.

The association wanted to ensure its continued existence.

Just under three months after it was founded, the organization already had over 250 members.

Today there are around 500 members.

"These are all responsible citizens who want to help maintain the leisure facility, which consists of a youth campground, outdoor pool and bathing lake," says Thurner.

Many members of the entire board have been in office since the association was founded.

Among other things, there is a district representative (district council member Hubert Ficker) and one of the location of the plant (Mammendorf's town hall chief Josef Heckl).

The facility, built in 1985 and renamed the "leisure park" in 2012, cost around 13 million marks.

But after the economic crisis and because of the district's tight financial situation, the closure was in the air.

At that time, Mammendorf and the other seven municipalities of the administrative community (VG) took care of the rescue with the association.

Today, Mammendorf spends 50,000 euros annually on maintaining the amusement park, the other VG municipalities give one euro per inhabitant and year.

"That's another 11,000 euros," says Thurner.

Surveys have shown that around a third of the visitors come from Mammendorf, a third from the rest of the district and a third from abroad.

"Nowadays, the association sees itself as a mouthpiece and mediator between the operator of the amusement park, the district, and the users," explains Thurner.

If desired, you can act as a mediator for complaints or complaints.

Above all, however, the association fulfills wishes and ensures that there are many attractions in the park.

Since its inception, the organization has funded improvements with around 90,000 euros.

For example, a climbing tower in the small children's area, a cart with books, table tennis tables for the lake area, parasols by the small pool, a spinning top, ten benches, ten refrigerators for the campground building and finally the fitness course.

The bathing island that was once procured had to be removed again by order of the district office.

In addition, the association has applied for the photovoltaic system installed by the district, which mediates the heating of the swimming pools via the biogas system from farmer Neheider, who would otherwise have had to dispose of the heat.

The association provided support for the skater track, as well as for the action of the water rescue service for the beach volleyball court - for this the association mediated the sand donation from the Selmayr gravel works.

In general, you can rely on many sponsors who are always on hand when a new idea for upgrading the amusement park is to be implemented.
