The Tölz cult band "Bananafishbones" thrilled 1000 fans at the Oach Festival in Bad Tölz.

She also breaks a curse in the process.

Bad Tölz

- Saturday was cloudy and drizzly, and many an anxious glance will have wandered to the weather app during the day: Is there rain?

Or does the "Oach" even get the Fishbones curse, and it storms and thunderstorms like last year?

No, everything was fine, everything stayed dry.

This year, the main act of the "Oach Festival", the performance of the "Bananafishbones", was able to go on stage unmolested - and around 1000 visitors and the band celebrated properly.

It was about two and a half hours on the lawn of the Tölz outdoor pool.

The evening before with cabaret artist Martin Frank was a complete success with around 800 spectators, even though it started to rain at the very end.

The organizers of the festival were the Stadtwerke, which organized the event for the third time.

The planning started last summer.

"We are happy that we can also provide you with cultural energy," Walter Huber, head of the Stadtwerke, welcomed the music fans before he released the stage for the support act "Brass da la Vista", who played their own songs and cover songs with a pretty cool sound well preheated.

With the spa concert distance between the stage and the rows of pews, however, people had to warm up first.

Later, the space was used extensively for dancing.

Fishbones singer and bassist Sebastian Horn felt a little schizophrenic, he said with a wink before the performance, because on Thursday he was with Dreiviertelblut, on Friday with the formation "Bavaresi" and now, on Saturday, with the Fishbones.

And these are three completely different musical matters.

On top of that, a performance in your hometown is always exciting - even if the rather cozy Eichmühlbad lacked that touch of Hollywood that the Fishbones' performance as Johnny Depp's support act at the Munich Tollwood Festival may have wafted about recently.

A bit of the red carpet was rolled out for Fishbones drummer Florian Rein: Surprisingly for him, Mayor Ingo Mehner and city councilors Ulrike Bomhard, Richard Hoch and Michael Ernst awarded him the “Tölzer Löwen”, a cultural prize of the city.

It was only awarded for the sixth time, and Rein had convinced the committee with "what he achieves and his voluntary commitment" in terms of music.

"Man, Ingo, now you've got me clean, and that before the performance," said Rein, amazed.

"It's so nice to be here"

The "Fishbones" were in a good mood that evening.

After the festival had to be canceled last year due to bad weather, everything was literally dry.

They started with "Hello" and "I like a lot" and with them the jumping, singing, arm-waving audience, who got into it from the first second.

"Lots of cool, friendly people here," exclaimed Sebastian Horn enthusiastically, "it's so nice to be here."

For a long time, the Tölzers had to do without their “fishbones”.

And now there was also a real participatory concert without rigid rows of chairs and a lot of space.

It showed once again what a cross-generational and loyal fan community the Horn brothers and Florian Rein have gathered around them over the past three decades.

It ranges from children to grandparents.

That's the beauty of it, and it just makes her stand out.

That they really are a brilliant live band became apparent when Peter Horn took a long break from working on his guitar.

An improvised, multi-verse thank you song to just about everything and everyone was cheered with great enthusiasm.

Exactly what the technical problem with the instrument was remained unclear, but nothing was missing afterwards - at least not for the listeners.

With "Jimmy Corrigan", "Snowflakes", "Guinea Pigs", "Rumble", "Road to nowhere" and a few other "Fishbones" classics, the band brought the mood to a boil, and at some point even a little one showed up Stripes of sunset over the treetops - it could hardly have been more beautiful.

Sunday was family day

After the announced 21 songs – who wants to keep count – the audience loudly demanded four encores.

After a country version of "I love Rock'n'Roll" there was the band's usual showdown with "Come to sin", because without that you don't go home after a "Fishbones" concert.

At the end of the festival in the "Oach" there was an invitation to a family day on Sunday.

Even if Sunday was not necessarily bathing weather, there was a colorful program for the children and adults with the actors Stefan Murr, Johanna Bittenbinder and Heinz-Josef Braun, who told their entertaining story about "Beetle Mary".

In the afternoon, the young bands from the music school played drum skins.
