"Oral agreement with BVB": Modeste not in the squad

Anthony Modeste is not in the 1. FC Köln squad for the first league game of the Bundesliga due to his almost certain move to runners-up Borussia Dortmund.

"At the request of Tony Modeste, we reached a verbal agreement in principle with BVB this afternoon about his move to BVB," said FC Managing Director Christian Keller:

Cologne – “The transfer should be confirmed after the medical check that is scheduled for tomorrow.

That's why we decided together that Tony won't be in the squad today, even though Tony gave the clear signal that he wanted to play.” The 34-year-old Frenchman scored 20 goals last season.

In the former Hoffenheim player Sargis Adamyan, who was actually intended as Modeste's strike partner, there is only one new signing in the starting eleven at FC.

At Schalke, on the other hand, there are seven: goalkeeper Alexander Schwolow, Cedric Brunner and Maya Yoshida in defense, Tom Krauß, Alex Král and Tobias Mohr in midfield and Sebastian Polter up front.
