Two people were killed and five others missing when a boat carrying illegal immigrants trying to enter the United States capsized off the Florida Keys.
"A boat carrying 15 migrants capsized 23 kilometers south of Sugarloaf, killing two people, while five others are still missing," the Associated Press quoted the coast guard as saying.
The Coast Guard added: "Eight other people were rescued, without specifying the nationalities of the migrants."
In turn, Coast Guard Commander in the region, Brendan McPherson, said that "search operations are underway for other missing persons," noting that "this situation highlights the dangers faced by immigrants while trying to enter the United States illegally by sea."
