A 2-year-old twin dies in Texas when a cement truck falls on a car. His sister was rescued

"Luckily, I was able to get one of them out," said a witness while holding back tears, "but, I couldn't get the other one out." The truck driver suffered minor injuries but she refused to be treated.

A 22-month-old (nearly 2-year-old) boy was killed when a cement truck driver lost control and fell from an overpass onto a vehicle traveling below, Texas police said.

The accident occurred Friday afternoon on the Houston Freeway in eastern Harris County.

"It appears that a cement truck traveling on the main lanes lost control, went over the overpass and fell on top of a vehicle with four occupants," Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said on Twitter.

Three of the occupants were able to get out of the car while

the infant was pronounced dead at the scene.

Raymond Romo, a witness to the accident, told Houston's NBC affiliate KPRC that he saw the truck swerve to avoid another car before crashing into the overpass.

He added that the truck was hanging off the overpass as cars below tried to get out of the way.

Romo, who works nearby, said the truck then fell forward and landed on top of a Ford Expedition pickup.

"We saw him when we were in the middle of the parking lot landing on the vehicle," he told the quoted media, "instantly, me and my friend Joe, we went into action."

Romo said he pulled the driver's 22-year-old daughter out of the car and then tried to pull the 22-month-old twins sitting in the back.

He was able to save one of them by grabbing a car seat but

couldn't save her little brother,

he told KPRC.

The driver of the car, the grandmother of the minors (54), also escaped.

A firefighter responded to the call of a fire and discovered that the victims were his relatives

"Luckily, I was able to get one of them out," Romo said as he fought back tears, "but, I couldn't get the other one out."

"They saw him fall and the grandmother... froze and kind of froze," he added. 

The three occupants were taken to the hospital with minor injuries, according to KPRC.

The truck driver is believed to have suffered minor injuries but refused to be treated.
