Erding

- Once again one of the play huts burned on the playground in Erdinger Stadtpark.

Police and firefighters were called around 10 p.m. Friday.

According to the report by the Erding Police Inspectorate, a witness who was walking through the city park on his way home noticed the fire in the pavilion at the playground and alerted the emergency services.

(By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular Erding newsletter.)

The Erding fire brigade was able to bring the fire under control quickly, "but as in the past, the subsequent extinguishing work was complex," she writes on her Facebook page: Since the roof construction had to be removed with heavy equipment, this work lasted until after midnight, to everyone to extinguish embers in the thatched roof.

The roof construction of the hut had to be removed with heavy equipment.

The subsequent extinguishing work therefore dragged on until after midnight to extinguish all the embers in the thatched roof.

According to the police, the pavilion can no longer be used, and damage to property is estimated at 10,000 euros.

According to the current status of the investigation, arson must be assumed.

Witnesses are asked to contact the police on Tel. (0 81 22) 96 8-0.

The playground's thatched roofs have caught fire a good half a dozen times in recent years, each time it was due to arson or gross negligence.

Most recently, the Erding fire brigade had to move out for such an operation last December.
