From the Kettcar to the Kraxlturm: Great variety at the classic car meeting in Darching

Historic cars, motorbikes and tractors - even a motorized kettcar: the variety at the Darchinger Oldtimertreffen was great.

The fire brigade provided good entertainment.

– Hidden in the shadow of the Magirus equipment car, many a visitor to the Darchinger Oldtimertreffen almost overlooked it: a white and blue Kettcar, built in 1957. But anyone who then took the trouble to bend their knees a little was amazed.

Because behind the fiery red seat shell slumbered an engine that looked like a small rocket engine with its shiny silver cylinder and exhaust pipe.

A look at the nameplate provided some clarification: the historic pedal car had been given a Victoria FM 38 bicycle auxiliary motor by a tinkerer.

For such a light vehicle it is actually a kind of rocket propulsion system, one might assume.

Otherwise, the 18th classic car meeting of the Darching fire brigade was decidedly relaxed.

Even later in the morning, one or two tractors were still chugging leisurely onto the meadow in front of the fire station, where a wide variety of historical delicacies on two and four wheels were lined up.

A turquoise Eicher Tiger tractor was there as well as a golden Opel Manta (including rims).

The brave little climbers who dared to climb to the top of the ten meter high Kraxlturm had the best overview.

And there were quite a few, because every few minutes the cowbells rang again and again at the top of the trunk.

Meanwhile, down on the ground, the duo Zwoaralloa provided acoustic entertainment, while the visitors in the cleared out garage hall of the fire brigade and outside under the umbrellas at the beer tables enjoyed cakes and rolled roasts.

The cool weather was felt to be pleasant after the recent heat, especially since, despite the gray sky, at most a few drops of drizzle fell on the highly polished classic cars and the seats could be dried again with a wipe.

In the meantime, a tractor driver had taken precautions and, just to be on the safe side, carried a children's pedal bulldog piggyback with him.
