A video on Twitter provides striking evidence of just how much apes resemble us.
With his empathy, a monkey conquers hearts.
It has already been researched and proven many times: empathy and a sensitive perception of moods and emotional states are not purely human traits.
Dogs react to the emotions of their owners and pigs and horses can also recognize emotions by the pitch of their voices.
A video shows particularly impressively that monkeys also have these fine antennae.
And the gesture of the monkey proves once again how similar monkeys and humans are.

The video, which has been viewed on Twitter over three million times and has garnered over 44,000 likes, features a monkey dressed up on a couch.
Next to him sits a man who is in despair, leans his head against the wall and starts to cry.
However, whether these are real emotions or are faked to demonstrate the monkey's reaction is not revealed.
A wild boar has also made itself comfortable on a sofa.

How the monkey reacts is just heartbreaking.
The monkey comfortingly pats the crying man on the shoulders.
He then pats his thigh as if to say come on lie on my lap.
And that's exactly what the monkey means.

Monkey comforts crying man: 'More human than some friends'
The man understands the monkey's gesture and gratefully accepts it.
He rests his head on the animal's thighs while continuing to receive a loving pat on the shoulder.
True to the motto: "Don't cry.
Everything will be fine!" One user captioned the video posted by "
