As the head of the AMN, I knew these two murderous terrorists. These are two people whose departure the world is better for, terrorists who planned attacks and the murder of Israelis. In many ways, the removal of Mansour from the campaign is even more significant than that of Jabari - this is one of the senior and most important commanders of the Haga "P.

Throughout the years of his sabotage activity, he was one of the leaders of the organization's rocket capability, responsible for the array of operations and the dominant factor behind the attack that was planned to be carried out at the Gaza border in recent days.

The ability to increase the pressure and surprise every day, even when the enemy is on the alert and on the defensive, is the key to increasing deterrence.

Beyond the impressive tactical achievement, it is appropriate to examine broader aspects of the operation, but first the proportions must be refined - this is a limited operation against a relatively weak organization, probably the weakest of our enemies.

The operation is not intended to fundamentally change the reality in Gaza, it will continue to be challenging in the future as well.

Test days

The latest round of events began when Jihad responded to the arrest of the organization's senior official in Jenin by preparing to fire an anti-tank missile at the enclave. The required Israeli response, which imposed restrictions on the movement of civilians in the enclave area, encouraged it to increase its demands to the point of wanting to design an equation according to which IDF activity "Le Yosh will lead to a response from Gaza.

This sin of arrogance led to a campaign against him, since such an equation is unacceptable and intolerable from Israel's point of view.

Israel's goals in the operation were apparently to thwart the planned attack, to prevent the establishment of an equation of connection between Yosh and Gaza, and to increase deterrence against the Jihad. With the exception of the first goal - which was clearly achieved with the damage to the chain of command and control of the anti-tank system, and the destruction of targets related to the array - we will examine compliance with the other goals in the future.

In light of the severe damage to the GAP, it can be assumed that they were achieved.

The coming days will be test days for preserving Israel's achievements.

It must be remembered, even against the background of reports of an approaching ceasefire, that it is not over until it is over.

One mistake, in defense or attack, is enough to change the balance of achievements.

This is a good enough reason from the point of view of the decision makers to strive for a quick end to the operation, as far as this depends on Israel (and it does not depend only on it).

In any case, it is necessary to calibrate expectations with the Israeli public: the Gaza problem will not disappear anywhere, and will continue to occupy us in the coming years as well.

Nothing that has happened here in the last few days brings us closer to a strategic solution to the issue.
